A Rubber Band Changes Everything

My first attempt at "Pebbles" hairstyle. What do you think? It's amazing how even from this young age she can look completely different with a new hairstyle.

Every year around this time I toy with the idea of cutting my hair shorter and I've always talked myself out of it. My main requirement for my haircut is that I can wear a ponytail...and I've fallen into the mommy trap of ONLY wearing it that way. When I have my hair down both of my kids look at me like, "I think you're my momma..." I have two problems with cutting it:

1. During the summer it gets really frizzy and I become lion-like. More like half lion half poodle.
2. My face is round so I'm not sure it would actually even look right short!

There are much bigger fish to fry in life and in the world right now so I'm not expecting much feedback on this but if you are good at predicting what would look right on people give me your opinion!

I dramatically cut my hair about 4 weeks before Trevor was born to a shorter than ever style that I loved at the time. Now... I am desperate to have it long again. For as long as I've been a mommy, I've never been able to do the pony-tail thing...and it has not served my appearance well! I say, better long lovely hair in a pony tail when needed, than short hair that you can do nothing with! Oh...plus I envy your hair-please don't cut it! ;-)

And Charlie is such a cutie with those sparkling bright eyes...love the new do!

well I have never really seen your hair short .. I think there is a really old picture from when Freeland was probably 8 where it was short?! So Im not the most help.

I do remember when I was cutting my hair that you said being able to put it in a pony tail was something to think about.. and now that its hard for me to do - I agree! I miss my hair being longer.. and I miss putting it in ponytails. BUT I also LOVE that I can brush through it so much easier and it takes half the time to blow dry.

I also LOVED the pictures from your birthday where you had your hair down.. it looked gorgeous!

So I say cut it - just not TOO short where a pony tail isnt an option .. or where it takes forever to get back to how you want it if you prefer it longer. Baby steps. :)

I love her hair that way! Too cute!!

Your hair is beautiful the way it is but if you do cut it just keep it below your shoulders....you would miss the pony tail for sure!! Either way you will look beautiful!

See, the problem with cutting your hair is growing it out. I cut my hair off right after Brody was born and haven't been able to grow it back out since. It gets to that icky length where I can't stand it and get it chopped again! I am lucky because Justin likes my hair better short! You have great hair, and I am sure it will look great no matter what you do!

Love the new do Charlie!! Reminds me of Ally's when she was that age:) Mary--Love you hair...of course I have had short hair forever so I don't even know what it's like to have a pony tail! I think your hair will be gorgeous no matter what.

OMG...I just had a flashback. I remember sitting in Algebra II or something in HS across from you and being SO envious of your hair. How funny is that? I remember that you used to curl it in these huge, perfect rings and I never could understand why mine just wouldn't cooperate like that. I love your hair, but I totally understand the desire for change. Everyone always tells me to take baby steps and it just makes me go the other direction and chop it off. I'm usually instantly regretful...I'm in grow-out-mode now! Ponytails are key if you are in a huge hurry with little ones! :)

Charlie is a doll!

We have sat at Dr. Rembecki's for several hours at a time, so I can totally empathize. Let us know how it goes!

Mary- if you cut your gorgeous hair, we are no longer blogging BFF's. Your hair is too darn pretty to waste in the trash. Plus, I imagine it is very thick and all that curl will be crazy short! Now, I will say this last hair cut of mine has been my favorite, but I don't have beautiful hair and I'm not nursing a baby, etc...
p.s. Charlie's hair rocks!!

Yep, Mary, your hair should be long. I'd give anything for a ponytail with substance. I don't know how we came from the same gene pool. I have to work much harder for my short hair to be even "presentable." And long hair is easier, especially when it's pretty to start with.
